@shqm2 interesting. I didn't know that. Eyes, especially single ones, seem to have always had sinister associations: the Evil Eye, the single eye on the pyramid, etc.
(It strikes me as a little ironic that the CCP would consider the eye a hostile icon, given how much of their power is rooted in pervasive surveillance.)

It's funny you mention it, because the phrase "aggressive grandeur" feels like a very American concept to me, but I think every society probably has something like that. Aggressive grandeur is the product of aggressive minds, and those, as we know, are everywhere.
@shqm2 I've heard some people say it does. I don't feel like I can deny anyone's experience, but I'm not convinced those are healthy or fulfilling relationships.
